Oh, J-Bay. You were one that I’ll never forget…
Check out the highlights video to get a better look at our month in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. While in J-Bay we did manual labor that consisted of moving bricks, dirt and wood, chipping concrete off bricks as well as sanding and varnishing bricks. We made some great new friends throughout the community. We taught Sex Ed, prayed with students and teachers, helped with youth ministry at the local church and went on lots of fun adventures including surfing, cliff jumping, bungee jumping and the breathtaking Table Mountain in Cape Town. I was also baptized in the Indian Ocean and outwardly proclaimed the inward change that Jesus has made within my heart.
J-Bay taught me that ministry can look like a lot of different things – not just praying with people and teaching them about God, but serving and loving as Jesus did and letting our actions speak before our words. I’ve learned so much about creating community and what it should look like. This community became ‘home’ and was definitely a tough one to leave. It was a hard goodbye, but we are looking forward to what God has in store for our squad in Asia. Enjoy the recap video!
