Note: There are several pictures I would like to upload with this blog, but the internet connection is making that very difficult. I will update this blog with the pictures once I get to a better internet connection.
As Christians, we are called to love God and love people.
Back home, I was part of a community group that was focused
on exactly that.
We would meet up on Thursday nights to worship God, pray for
each other and dig deeper into the Word.
Having reached a spiritual low point in my life last
October, becoming a part of the Northridge Community Group (NCG) is one of the
best decisions I have ever made. The brothers and sisters in Christ I met
through this group are incredible and I look forward to seeing all of them
again when I return home from the World Race.
This last month in Nepal, I have become a part of another
NCG, the Nepali Community Group.
My team’s ministry has been to pour into various prayer and
worship meetings as well as the church congregation during the Saturday’s main
service.
The first Sunday of this month, our ministry contact Megh
told us that we would be going to a prayer meeting that night and that one of
us would be sharing a message.
At nightfall, we headed towards the house that the meeting
was at. We arrived at a very small room that served as both kitchen and bedroom
for a family of four or five. Having packed over 20 people into this room, we
began to worship, clapping along to the Nepali worship songs.
The singing came to a close and I then shared a message with
the group about loving God and loving people.
Following the message, we spent several minutes praying
before having dinner together.
This is what ministry has looked like for my team the entire
month, and it has been amazing. It has been such a great opportunity to see how
the body of Christ comes together in the form of community groups in another
country.
My team has learned to embrace the idea of letting go of expectations.
We may not have spent hours a day this month hiking and evangelizing throughout
Nepal as we thought we might be doing on the World Race, but instead we have
been given the chance to pour into brothers and sisters in Christ via community
groups as I have come to miss from back home.
Tomorrow morning we head for Thailand. I honestly cannot believe that I am about to begin month 3 of my World Race. Blog about Debrief and Thailand to come within a few days!
