Luminous is staying in Nelspruit to do ministry this month. Manna, Indelible, Koininia and Spectacle will be working in Vilanculos, Mozambique. BLING will be heading north of Vilanculos still in Mozambique. Tikvah will be working with a branch of Iris ministry in Beira, Mozambique.
My team, the Gentle Warriors, will be leaving tomorrow from Nelspruit to take a 20 hour bus ride to Vilanculos, Mozambique. I think we will be staying there for a few days. We will then take a 13 hour bus ride with Tikvah to Beira, Mozambique. We will stay with them at the Iris orphanage for a night. Then just the 8 of us women from the Gentle Warriors will take another long bus ride (I’m guessing about 6 hrs but really none of us know yet) across the border to Mutare, Zimbabwe – our final destination (WHEW!). It’s funny because I told my team last month how sick of busses I already am…and I hear that the ride from Beira to Mutare is extremely bumpy (holes that the van can fall in lol..oh boy!) I have lots of Dramamine that I WILL be taking!
For those of you who do not know, Mugabe is the ruler of Zimbabwe. I do not know too much about him yet, but the things I have heard are not so good. I think this will be a very interesting month of ministry. We have heard that there are many strongholds such as confusion and anger that are in this country. We were told that we will be working with displaced families here in Zimbabwe. It should be interesting! I’m sure I will have more detailed blogs at the end of the month for you.
We found out that we will be tenting for the month. We are living off of $4 a day due to such high travel expenses. So, therefore, we are going grocery shopping tomorrow morning to buy groceries for our team for the entire month. We will be hauling all of our food on the 3 bus rides, from South Africa to Mozambique and finally Zimbabwe. We will be roughing it this month for sure! I have been way too comfortable these past five months, so this is honestly what I have been waiting for. Who knows when my next shower will be. I am already running out of clean clothes and I am up for a good 4 days of travel before I get to set up my tent in the bush. I doubt I’ll have electricity or a toilet. For sure no internet. I can’t wait! =D
Please keep all of us in your prayers, especially this week as we are traveling across several borders into several different countries.
I am sooo excited to finally do ministry in Africa!! I can’t wait to update all of you at the end of the month on our debrief!
Love and hugs from South Africa!
