For ministry this month, Team Chosen and
Team Fearless are working in the central region of Malawi for Harvesters
International Ministry. Our main goal is to share Jesus with people in the
villages and help plant churches there. We’re based in Lilongwe, Malawi, but
will be traveling starting tomorrow to another village about 2 hours away for a
week and then another one the second week.
I’m beyond excited to be here!! I always
thought it would just be a dream for me. The first morning on the bus when I
woke up and looked out the window I saw so many traditional African huts. I was
expecting Africa to be a lot like Haiti and it is to a point, same level of
poverty and ways of living- but at the same time it hit me- I’M IN AFRICA!!!!
man oh man. my heart started to beat with joy and hasn’t stopped since. I’ve
always felt love towards Africa, but now being here I can see God has placed
that joy and love in my heart. He made it a part of who I am in Him.
we’re living like legit Africans
too… so simple. in our tents, with no
electricity or running water, we have a squatty potty again this month, taking
bucket showers and trying to learn the Chichewa language. – i love it!! :] :]
The first full night here we showed a Billy Graham video in the village and
TONS, I means TONS of people came from all directions. it was awesomeness. The
people here are so joyous. I’ve never seen anything like it. Malawi is called
“the warm heart of Africa” and I can see why through all the
beautiful people and smiling faces. since freeing themselves from Britain in
the 1960s, Malawi has never seen the effects of war either- thats craziness for
an African country.
my heart is so happy here. and this is
when God transforms me the most and I can’t wait to see what He brings the next
3 months. The last four months, I’ve struggled with feeling and hearing God’s
joy. this morning I came across this verse and it is perfect for this season
god has me in now:
“The bride belongs to the
bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom WAITS and LISTENS for Him,
and IS FULL OF JOY when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That JOY is mine, and
it is now COMPLETE. He must become greater, I must become less.” John
3:29-30
