Dear Friends and Family,
Hello again! I pray this
letter finds you well. As most of you know, back in August I went to Guatemala
with an organization called Orphan Outreach. It was such an amazing trip!!! The
opportunity to pour Jesus’ love out to so many children was a very memorable,
humbling, and rewarding experience. I want to thank you all again for your
prayers and donations, for you have touched those childrens’ lives! God has
placed mission work on my heart for quite some time now, and I am so excited to
continue His desires!
I have another amazing
opportunity God has blessed me with to share with you guys!! I am so excited! I
will be participating in “The World Race” serving alongside an
organization called Adventures in Missions. Starting in July 2010, I will be traveling
to 11 countries in 11 months, with the purpose of serving the poorest of the
poor, growing in my faith and knowledge of the Lord, working closely in
community with other believers, and experiencing a lifelong journey for God’s
kingdom. As of right now, the tentative traveling schedule is first in July and August to Haiti and The Dominican Republic (what a blessing being able to help those affected by the recent devastating earthquake), Ireland, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Philippines, Mozambique, Malawi, Ask the Lord Africa, Turkey, and Romania.
Obviously, this is a HUGE
commitment. I will be doing lots of fund raising and freelance
jobs and then living out of a backpack for a year… all to be an ambassador of
Jesus!! I cannot wait!!!! Wherever my team will be, we will be working
alongside established, local ministries. Depending on which country we are in,
we may be playing with orphans in Romania, encouraging those suffering from HIV
in Africa, teaching at locals schools, or cleaning up community centers and
preaching in red lights districts in Asia. God’s desire for me is to be His
hands and feet and help those who long for His truth and salvation through
Jesus Christ! This is not about me wanting to have a year of fun and adventure.
The race is going to be challenging. I know I will become homesick, but I also
know God has already begun to mold and shape me as one of His committed
disciples throughout this process. I pray I only grow stronger in Him over the race and truly see
what it means to depend on Him alone. He is already opening my eyes to humanity
and the love we are all called to give. “He must become greater; I must
become less.” – John 3:30
I am so thankful for this
opportunity and I trust the Lord will provide and meet my needs. I am honored
and blessed to even be asking the support of my friends and family to help make
this happen. My prayer is that He in return will also provide for you. I am super
excited to share this mission experience with all of you prayerfully and
financially!! Seeing as this is a huge commitment, I must raise $15,000 to
cover the entire 11 months I will be gone. The good news is AIM accepts monthly
pledge donations (where you can select the starting and ending dates), so if 10
people commit to only $100 for 10 months, I will already be over halfway there!
This cost will cover all my meals, lodging, air and land travel, administrative
costs, and training camp costs for the entire 11 months. **As of 4/21/10 I have raised $9,375, which means I only have a little over $4,000 more to go!!!!**
Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions. I must have 60% of the total trip costs in my
account before leaving, if this helps you with a time frame on when to provide (check!).
Adventures In Missions is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501
(c) (3) non-profit organization. Donors will receive receipts for their gifts
with the understanding that the disbursement of those gifts lies completely at
the discretion of Adventures In Missions and that the gifts are non-refundable
and non-transferable, per IRS regulations. Gifts may be tax deductible; please
consult a tax advisor.
I would appreciate any
support you can give: monetary and,
more importantly, prayer! I am super pumped to see how God will use me as His
faithful servant and what all He has in store to teach all of us through the 11
months and during preparation for the race as well. It is my joy to share this
with you, because I have learned, that I cannot minister in this way apart from
you all! First and foremost, I will need your prayers and encouraging words as
I engage in this spiritual battle for the lost. Secondly, I cannot afford to
abandon my comforts and lifestyle to serve the poor, without your financial
partnership. Right now, you are probably asking the same questions I am asking
myself, when praying about this big life change, a change from my present
lifestyle, relationships and worship. Please pray that all my work would be
done according to God’s will and for His glory. My wish is to go on The World
Race as a representative of Jesus for you. Thank you in advance for your
support!!!!!!!!!
Luke 9:24: “For whoever wants
to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”
I cannot wait to lose my life!!
