My friend Benjamin passed away. He was a little boy that Logan and I met in Busia, Kenya. He was a four year old withering away from malnutrition. We loved him. Logan sought ways to better his care in the Busia hospital. We were unfortunately too late, by the point that we met him, he was not eating and had no appetite. He was so young and precious it breaks my heart that he was not able to overcome this. I pray that he is with the Lord, pain free. This little boy who I knew for such a short time touched my heart. He taught me lessons that I would not have known unless I met him. The Lord used his life to teach me compassion, to show me the importance of justice and to love. For that I am grateful. I am saddened by the news of his passing and my heart breaks for his mother. But I know that the Lord is in control.
My dearest friend Ben,
You were loved. I only knew you for a few days but I loved you. You captured my heart from the beginning. You taught me compassion on a new level. You taught me the importance of justice, the importance of love. In your face I saw the pain that you lived in, your body revealed the frailty of life. I pray that you are with the Lord. That you are pain free in the presence of the one who made you, the one who loves you unconditionally. Your short life was a blessing. I will never be the same because I met you and loved you. My heart breaks for the things that this world tells me that you missed. But I know that the Lord has a bigger plan for your life than humanity can muster for you.
Ben I loved you even though I never truly knew you. I was blessed by you. I thank the Lord for the lessons I learned, for how He used you in my life and how He loved you.
Your Busia friend,
Stephanie
