Africa: waka waka
This is Africa. I have said it before but now here we are in Busia, Kenya. Living it. Rocking it.
Living the dream. Serving in Busia, Kenya for a great contact. Our contact here is Pastor Gideon and Pastor Steve. Two men who love the Lord and bless us with their hospitability and ministry opportunities.
It has been quite an African experience already.
We made it to Busia a couple of Thursday’s ago after an 11hour bus ride from Nairobi. We walked into our house that we are staying with our contacts welcoming us with open arms and some freshly made chipati. Chipati is one of my favorite things about Africa. My favorite thing about Africa is for sure the people but as far as food goes Chipati is where it is at. Chipati is a flour based tortilla esque freshly baked goodness. It is wonderful. We have also been blessed by our own personal Chef. Chef Lucas. He is pretty much awesome. He is the kindest sweetest hearted man. He prepares our food with love and kindness. Accompanies us to the market and teaches us how to cook. It has been fun learning how to prepare African meals and teaching him some American dishes. We had the opportunity to make guacamole the other day, which was really good.
The people here are pretty awesome. We have been met with mostly kindness and welcoming hospitality. The cutest thing is whenever we walk down the streets of Busia to go into town we are welcomed by every kid in the area running towards us shouting “muzungoo” (which means white person) quickly followed by “how are you”.
The Lord is at work in this place. Whether that is in our contacts lives or in my life. It has been wonderful to serve the Lord here and to grow in Him.
This month has not been without its ups and downs. But whenever a trial has hit or I am having an emotional moment I have seen the Lord meet me where I am at. I have been reminded through His word and those around me, that our God is good. That He is faithful. That He is compassionate and loving. More importantly that He is in control. His plan is far better than mine. And nothing happens without His knowledge or allowance. What a good, wonderful God we serve.
I am blessed by His goodness and constant provision for all of my needs. Even here in Africa the Lord has been faithful and giving. I am truly blessed by Him.
