5:30 Wake up from either the sun blaring through my tent or Jacob, one of my teammates, yelling motivational speeches in his sleep. Decide it’s not time to get up so I go back to sleep. Three and a half hours until breakfast. Ugh.
7:15 Wake up from dogs barking and children screaming from the school next door. Examine the clothes I slept in and since today’s not a shower day, decide to just keep wearing the same thing. Two hours until breakfast.

7:20 Begin the battle of the bathroom. There are 56 other people on G Squad and only 2 showers and 3 toilets. Let the games begin. Also, it’s 50 degrees in the Honduran mountains and no hot water so I thank Jesus for the non-showering days because the ice cold showers want to destroy all reason for living. It’s all about building character.
7:30 An hour and a half until breakfast. Crap.
7:30 Hang out with Jesus. Good stuff.
9:00 BREAKFAST! Some days Fruit Loops, other days oatmeal. We always pray for cereal.
9:30 Sit, Contemplate life, Hang out with Team Hebron or other members of G Squad.
10:00 Depending on the day, begin working on hacking down jungles with machetes or go to the dump. On Fridays, it’s our mall day were we go into town and begin the hunt for internet. Those days we actually wear makeup and clean clothes.
12:00 Lunch. Usually involving chicken and chips. The school next to us is out by this time so they always come by and swing on the swings or play games with us.
1:00 Either continue destroying things with machetes or go to a girls’ home called Emfa where we paint fingernails, teach dances or braiding hair.
4:00 Usually we’re done with ministry by this time. We do Team Time/Feedback together with Team Heb and talk about how the day went and give constructive feedback/affirm each other.
6:00 Dinner! More chicken-based dishes unless it’s hotdog night. Then some of us walk down to the restaurant a few doors down for chicken tacos. 2 tacos for 20 Limpidas (1 dollar) = delicioso.
7:00 Hang out time. Intense Spoons, Phase 10, or Spades games happen during this time as well as spontaneous dance parties or awesome clear nights that lead to us simply staring at the stars.
10:00 Lights out! Bedtime!
