We have made it to our ministry site in Mozambique!

We are working at a boys’ home for orphans called Beacon of Hope. There are 6 teenagers right now (normally there are 10 at the ministry), and the boys are taught different skills that will help them find jobs so that they can later support themselves.

Before we got to our ministry, we spent a couple nights in a hostel in the city of Maputo. During our stay, we got to visit the beach which was interesting. We walked a couple miles through the busy city to catch a ferry to get to the beach. It was the most populated beach I have ever been to, but it did have an great view of the city.

So far at the ministry, we have been helping prepare for a carnival for the community for a holiday called Kids’ Day. We have been doing yard work, making clown wigs and hats for the kids. Tomorrow is the big day!

Starting next week, we will begin teaching classes for the teenagers. I will be teaching Bible and math.

This month has been very nice. The weather here is sunny and perfect. We have a huge book shelf filled with Christian books. It has been a lot of fun so far.

Personally I’ve been feeling so blessed. I’m so thankful for this amazing year. It has been the most fun, faith-building, growing experience of my life so far. I can’t believe it will end in a matter of weeks! But I’m excited where God will have me go next.
