TIA – THIS IS AFRICA…
So an hour and a half later we stepped onto the shores of Chiloaen and into a small fishing village. Everyone within sight stopped to watch us as we were led to the government building to check in.
Small, wooden fishing boats lined its shore, along with floating fish parts but somehow that didn’t negate its beauty. This was one place that definitely displayed the fingerprints of God at every turn – lush palm trees, cute children, the slowly setting sun glistening off the wet sand.
We followed a sandy path around while praying silently (and taking photos). Like spies sent into the land we had come to discern a plan for an upcoming team. Is this where they should come was the main question.
Chiloaen has no known history of missionary presence. There is a small church founded by a Mozambique man with about 20 members. Out of an island of 4,000 – 5,000 people that means less than 1% of the island knows Christ.
We circled up to pray, along with a couple of guys from the church, and began to proclaim God’s truth over the land. It was an amazing time of intercession and we all walked away knowing this was where the team should come. There was a sense and expectation that God has great plans here, a ready harvest.
After praying we stood on the shore watching an amazing sunset (African skies really are blessed by God) before boarding our motorboat back. We then set out as the light faded into a brilliant, starry night as the waves from our boat glowed a neon blue-green from the bioluminescence (however you spell it) in the water.
It was a frustrating day turned to perfection.
Please join me in praying for this small island and for the South African team which, by now, should be ministering there.
