If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from
the burning fiery furnace,
and He will deliver us from your hand, O
King.
” Daniel 3:17

As they stood facing the fire of
Nebuchadnezzar’s wrath, these guys had an understanding that their God
was more powerful than any king or man-made kingdom. Shadrach, Meshach
and Abed-Nego knew God as all-powerful and recognized man has no power
but that which He gives.

When you serve the God who is an all consuming fire, whose presence
can cause mountains to melt and can consume enemies in an instant,
there is just no reason left to fear the threats of man.

The God
of this trio was also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and
definitely not to be considered a wimpy God. Time and again He
miraculously provided for and protected the children of Israel. He
covered them in a cloud by day, led them in a pillar of fire by night
and dried the floor of the Red Sea to create a way of escape for His
children… just to name a couple of miraculous interventions. This was
all part of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego’s heritage. They knew God’s
ability to deliver and to do so miraculously.

The world of miracles, signs and wonders is somewhat lost to me. My
analytical brain just does not accept these things with ease. But
really why should it? If brutal honesty is desired, I often profess God
as all-powerful but live far different relegating Him instead to a
small, easily contained box that doesn’t leave much room for Him to
show up mighty and miraculously. I usually spend more time focusing on
how big the problem is instead of recognizing how mighty God is.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego didn’t face the fire and see its
enormity or run, trembling with fear. They placed their hope and trust
in God who is mighty to save those who call on His name – able to deliver His children.

Are
you overwhelmed at the intensity of the fire before you or are you
facing it confidently, knowing you have an Almighty, miracle-working God?
*note: since I will be in a closed country for this next month, I am afraid the rest of this will have to wait until I am back in a safe country again… but then again, thankfully that way I have time to write it 😉
