We were asked to write a blog about how we felt before leaving on this mission trip. Here is what I’m expecting. . .
I expect to live out the pages of God’s Word, therefore:
Genesis -I expect this to just be the beginning of the journey
Exodus – I expect to see people released from bondage into freedom
Leviticus – I expect to see how worship and justice go hand-in-hand to bring about holiness
Numbers – I expect times in the wilderness
Deuteronomy – I expect to see the depth of God’s Word revealed
Joshua – I expect times of great victory
Judges – I expect leaders will be raised up among us
Ruth – I expect God to be revealed as Redeemer
1 Samuel – I expect to encounter many children of promise
2 Samuel – I expect to see repentance and restoration
1 Kings – I expect lots of change
2 Kings – I expect to see the consequences of obedience/disobedience
1 Chronicles – I expect to bring encouragement and hope to those in difficulty
2 Chronicles – I expect to see the faithfulness of God
Ezra – I expect to see spiritual renewal
Nehemiah – I expect to be placed on the wall
Esther – I expect to petition the King of Kings to save a nation
Job – I expect to not always understand
Psalms – I expect creative expression
Proverbs – I expect to seek God for wisdom – a lot!
Ecclesiastes – I expect to have lots of questions for God
Song of Solomon – I expect deeper intimacy with Christ
Isaiah – I expect to see the salvation of the Lord
Jeremiah – I expect times that I will not be able to be silent
Lamentations – I expect to come to the end of myself
Ezekiel – I expect there will be times the Lord will ask me to be silent
Daniel – I expect my faith to be tested (and a few dreams and visions would be nice) 🙂
Hosea – I expect God to use unique ways to demonstrate His relentless love
Joel – I expect to fast and intercede
Amos – I expect my “American” mindset to be quickly confronted
Obadiah – I expect to find the importance of forgiveness
Jonah – I expect God to require some things of me I don’t want to do
Micah – I expect to gain revelation of God’s compassionate faithfulness
Nahum – I expect the fear of the Lord and an urgency for people to
hear the Gospel
Habakkuk – I expect to live by faith
Zephaniah – I expect to encounter a jubilant God who sings and
dances over His children
Haggai – I expect teamwork to be a necessity
Zechariah – I expect to be challenged to finish the task at hand
Malachi – I expect to occasionally be rebuked in love
Matthew – I expect to work on walking out the Sermon on the Mount
Mark – I expect a life of discipleship
Luke – I expect a life of prayer to be essential
John – I expect to fall more in love with the Word
Acts – I expect miracles and to experience the joys/pain of community living
Romans – I expect to learn about the righteousness of God
1 Corinthians – I expect spiritual gifts
2 Corinthians – I expect to be an ambassador for Christ
Galatians – I expect to gain greater appreciation for grace
Ephesians – I expect to grow more confident in my position in Christ and as part of His body of believers
Phillipians – I expect to discover true joy
Colossians – I expect to declare that “Jesus is Lord”
1 Thessalonians – I expect to grow in gratitude and thankfulness
2 Thessalonians – I expect for “the Word to go forth swiftly and be glorified”
1 Timothy – I expect there will be issues that have to be dealt with
2 Timothy – I expect to have a lesson or few in “be ready in season and out of season”
Titus – I expect it will require great diligence and commitment
Philemon – I expect to gain a new family
Hebrews – I expects lots of things to be “by faith”
James – I expect to be humbled more than once
1 Peter – I expect suffering
2 Peter – I expect to grow in the knowledge of God
1 John – I expect to share the love of God
2 John – I expect to learn abiding in Christ
3 John – I expect to practice hospitality
Jude – I expect to contend for the faith
Revelation – I expect to pray “Lord come quickly” a few times 🙂
