As a child I may have been one of the pickiest eaters on the planet. I am certain my dislikes far outweighed any likes I had. For those who remember that Steph, you are guaranteed to ohhh and ahhh over this list.

Dad… thanks for drilling “don’t knock it ’til you try it” into me.

1.  BBQ’d Tarantula: Not bad, honestly the thought is much worse than the flavor but admittedly I thought too much and only managed to make it through eating the legs – a bit hairy but with a nice teriyaki flavoring.

2. Amok: Khmer specialty and I’m pretty much a fan. I also had some Thai amok, great taste and it cleared my sinuses and washed any dirt from my eyes *whew*

3. Dragonfruit: Hands down my new favorite fruit  – and it looks cool!

4. Dragon eyes: I don’t know the real name, but it is kind of like a grape with a melon flavor. Interesting and fun since the big black seed in the middle makes it appear that you are eating an eyeball

 5.  Snake on a stick: Definitely don’t try to bite into it from just any random spot or you will chip a tooth, very tough and chewy – much like beef jerky

6.  Roe: A very nice compliment to some really good sushi

7.  Soursop: Like a cross between cantaloupe and honeydew in flavor – good but a little too sweet for me… or maybe that was because it was in a shake

8.  Durian fruit: I admit I was hoping I’d like this since Travel channel’s Andrew Zimmern described it as one of the nastiest things he ever put in his mouth, but in the end I agree with Andrew – YUCK!!!!

9. Duck: Our wonderful tuk-tuk driver, Pune, shared this with us. Very good flavor and I enjoyed it despite that it was dark meat

10. Eel: Possibly the BEST thing I tried this month – I am in love!!!!

Sorry MB I haven’t found the nerve to try a crispy cockroach yet…
