This post was inspired by an illustration used in the sermon on Sunday that I really enjoyed and wanted to share.

I’m sure most of you have had an experience where somebody walks past and leaves a trail of perfume or cologne in their wake.  Not necessarily a bad smell, just very potent.  If that person is to come up and give you a hug, the scent lingers on your own clothes even after they are gone.

As followers of Christ, that is what we should be like.  We need to put on a Jesus scented perfume that people notice as soon as we enter the room and stays with them long after, even (or perhaps especially) if they don’t know exactly why.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re on the Race or doing any other sort of mission work, or simple going about your daily life that includes your retail or office job.

We should always strive to act in such a way that allows God’s love to shine through.  We are empty vessels that must not just be filled, but overflowing with God’s love.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

~Matthew 5:14-16~

Thanks for reading, and please  feel free to share!  I would also like to ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with me in sharing the gospel with the nations.  I cannot do it on my own.  Anything helps, whether it is $10, $100, or $1000.  There are links on the side to donate (“Support Me!”) as well as subscribe to blog updates!
