What’s that? You don’t like sequels? Neither do I. Before you change the blog, this isn’t really a sequel. The title just seemed to fit again.
As a side note, this question was answered very eloquently by a friend of mine anyway. She said, “Yes. Absolutely, you’re crazy. What does that have to do with this?” I’m thankful for her honesty, it’s good to have somebody who gets me.

Anyway, my mom and grandma visited my aunt in Seattle a few weeks ago. My aunt sent home a newspaper article about human trafficking in Seattle. She reminded me that I don’t actually need to leave the country to be involved with stopping human trafficking. The truth is that I don’t really need to go anywhere. With I-80 and I-35 converging here in Des Moines, this is a big hot spot for human trafficking.
The real truth is that there are enough needy and hurting people here in Des Moines to keep evangelists busy for the rest of their lives. Nobody really needs to go anywhere to find somebody who needs Jesus or somebody who needs to be loved and ministered to.
Another part of the truth is that I’ve been living and working in Des Moines for eight years. I’m not exactly suffering burn out, but I don’t exactly feel fondness for the city like I used to. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, perhaps it’s time for some absence.

I’ve always had the desire to travel and see the world. When I met Erin Boresi and heard her talk about the World Race, something just clicked for me. (By the way, Erin Boresi is in the field right now, her blog is amazing, so please check that out as well.) It felt like a part of me that had been asleep started to wake up. The closer I get to my launch date, the stronger this feeling is.
One of my hopes is that by experiencing other cultures, how ministry works in other countries and to experience God in ways that I wouldn’t be able to experience Him here in the States, in my comfort zone.
