Some of you may know, I enjoy writing lyrics for songs. While I cannot write the instrument parts, I still very much like writing the lyrics and having friends help write the music or just saving the lyrics for later on down the road. The first song I wrote I ended up having friends help finish up the song and help with writing a guitar part. God put the song on my heart during a Kinesiology First Aid class one night before CRU in college and I have no clue what happened during that class because I spent the entire time writing down the lyrics.

I’ve written a few other lyrics and parts of songs since then. Last year when my grandmother passed away I wrote a song for my grandfather about their commitment to each other. Sometimes I just write because I want to but most often it’s because a song just comes to me and I feel as though God is giving me words for a song or the start of something and a beat. I’m wanting, hoping, praying that throughout the Race I can maybe write a song in each country. To start this off I wrote a song at Training Camp. Just some Truth God really laid on my heart.

Here’s the lyrics…then below that I tried to record a very basic voice part on my phone, nothing fancy or great, but just to give you an idea and help me remember the beat and thought behind these lyrics actually being a song.

This is “Filled With Joy” (it’s coming from God to us)

I have made you worthy,

Yeah, I have made you worthy.

You are not a mistake,

You are perfect to me.

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

Because you are my daughter.

I did not make you wrong,

I am not upset.

You are exactly,

What I want you to be.

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

Because you are my daughter.

You are my precious,

and beloved daughter,

And I am filled with joy!

Yeah, I am filled with joy!

I never left you,

Always been beside you.

You may try to walk away,

But I’ll always want you back.

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

I am filled with joy!

That you are my daughter.
