I’m Steph, 21 years old, recent graduate with a degree in Psychology and Child Advocacy Studies. I am from Andover, Minnesota and have grown up there most of my life with my amazing parents, my 18 year old sister Jenna, and my dog Abby! Some of my favorite things include exploring, taking risks, climbing trees and rocks, kayaking, hammocking, painting, drinking coffee or chai tea, and hanging out with the people I love. My heart is to minister to people in their brokenness and bring the hope of Jesus amidst the darkness. My passions lie within working with women, men, children in the sex trafficking industry, working with children, as well as working with victims of trauma. I have had a heart for missions ever since I was called to Bangkok, Thailand the summer of 2015 to minister to women, men, and ladyboys in the redlight districts. In a process of serving and participating in outreach, I was brought to a new level of what it looks like to put faith into action. It is there where the Lord continued my journey of learning to trust Him in new ways, fully relying on Him to be my strength, my focus, and my joy. My heart was broken for the things that breaks His, and my eyes were opened to the realities of the world. He has called me higher, He has called me deeper. To go beyond the norm, and have abundant joy and life through Him alone. To live a life that brings glory to Himself, to serve others, to get out of my comfort zone, and to love the all people, including the “least of these”.
Isaiah 58:6-9
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”
So here I am: saying “YES” to the calling the Lord has given me. To abandon what I know and journey into the unknown. I want to be a part of what God is doing in all nations, to have His name be lifted high, and to see every knee bow to the One who has saved us all. I love because He first loved me.
