Coffee and Conversations: To Be Known and Truly Loved

To be loved and not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.” – Tim Keller

Welcome to my World Race Blog! This will be my home for the next 11 months. If this is our first introduction, my name is Steph and I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Some of my favourite moments are spent one-on-one with friends, new and old, getting to know each other’s heart and entering into each other’s story.

If we could meet in person I would probably invite you over for breakfast so I could, for the morning, actualize a dream I once had to open a quaint little cafe and serve you an array of delicious homemade breakfast foods while taking our time sipping a cup of coffee.

I would love for you to approach my blog this way. My desire is to create a hospitable space that feels like home, where stories are shared and God is glorified.

As you read my first few blog posts, you’ll know that World Race was an unexpected invitation at this point in my life but I am so excited to embrace this part of my story and I am grateful for whatever way you will choose to be part of it.

If you are new to World Race, check out the video below to better understand what I have signed up for and why I have decided to leave the comforts of home for 11 months to immerse myself in the diverse cultures of India, Nepal, Thailand, Loas, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, China, Mongolia and The Philippines!

Alongside 45 other Racers [H-Squad] between the ages of 21-35 I will be traveling to these 11 countries to partner with and serve local churches and ministries who have a heart to see the gospel transform their community and nation.

‘Run’ this Race with Me!

Inspire Courage & Subscribe To My Blog: The most meaningful support you can offer is encouragement! To encourage someone literally means to “inspire courage”. I know there will be moments on the race when I will need a little inspiration to persevere with courage and I would love to hear from you!

Align with God’s Heart for Asia & Pray With Me: God’s power is released when we pray. Our prayers will pave the way for the gospel to transform people (including ourselves), communities and nations throughout Asia.

Experience the Joy of Generosity & Partner With Me Financially: The overall cost of my World Race route is $20,000 Canadian Dollars. This isn’t about me asking for your money. Rather, I am grateful for this opportunity to invite you to invest in this adventure by partnering with me financially and experiencing the joy of giving.

UPDATE!! I am in awe of God’s provision through your incredible generosity! I am fully funded as of Feb 15th. Thank you so much, wow.

May this adventure lead us to be known and truly loved.

With gratitude,

Steph

“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”Brene Brown
