Hello all!
I am in Nicaragua! This month I have been with the Unsung Heroes team. We have traveled to different parts of Nicaragua finding organizations for future World Race teams to partner with (same as I did in Vietnam). It has been a great month and has taken us to different parts of Nicaragua. We started in Granada, the traveled to Rivas, Ometepe, San Juan Del Sur, and Masaya. In each place we saw God moving and working; it was great!
There are a few events this month that really stood out for me. One was visiting an old lady named, Martha, and her household. Martha was sitting out on her porch when one of our teammates struck up a conversation with her (teammate doesn’t speak much Spanish but somehow God enables conversations to happen through language barriers). Another teammate and I joined in the conversation shortly after. We were able to hear about Martha’s life, where her kids are, her grandchildren. She was currently ill and said that their whole household had been covered in illness. The way she described it was that the house was riddled with sickness. She was chronically sick, the daughter-in-law was sick and the kids were sick. We were able to pray for her and the household, encourage her, and just share life with her. It was great. She loved having us there. Some of our teammates were able to go back to visit her later in the month to find out that they had been healed! The kids were no longer sick, neither the daughter in law, and Martha was feeling better as well! PRAISE GOD! I love it when that happens! 😀
The next very exciting thing, we meet a pastor of a church that does evangelism outreach events through music and theater, called El Cambio (The Change). He works with the youth of his church to put on performances that bring people to Jesus. We were able to see the team El Cambio practice at the church and were also blessed to attend the event. El Cambio performed at a high school putting on performances with different songs for two different groups of students. They did such a great job! They performed their songs; which talked about the difficulties of life and that Jesus is the only solution to life’s problems. After the performance the team members walked out to the audience and started telling people about their own stories and how Jesus was able to change their lives. While the youth performers were talking with students in the audience the pastor was preaching about Jesus and what it means to believe in Him as your Savior. They invited the students who want to know Jesus more to come forward and talk with the pastor. Throughout both events we saw over 100 students desire to know Jesus and asked Him in their lives!!! It was so beautiful to see; broken hearts opening up, people crying, getting prayed over, and just letting the Holy Spirit move.
Since our team doesn’t speak much Spanish, our job was to pray during the whole day. Before the performances the team split into groups and went into the classrooms to tell the students about our coming performance and share a little bit about Jesus and why we were there. We went along into the classrooms just to pray for the students in that room. During the performances we prayed. Afterwards when El Cambio team was talking to the individual audience we prayed for the Holy Spirit to move in this place. I believe strongly that our prayers were heard and answered. It was very evident that the Holy Spirit was moving in people’s hearts. This day made me realize how much I love seeing people come to know Jesus. It makes me think back to when I realized how much He loved me and how much He doesn’t care what ‘bad’ things I have done and how much He desires to have a real relationship with me. How overwhelming that realization can be! I pray that those 100 plus students will continue to know and learn what a loving Father our God is and that they will be able to experience His presence in their lives on a daily basis.
God is amazing. End of story. 😀
