Stacking cups. Anne of Green Gables. Interpretive dancing. Crazy, Wicked Yo-yoing. What do these have in common? If you guess, “a youth gathering”, then you hit it right on the head.

This past weekend I attended a Christian high school youth gathering (Go Youth Encounter!) in Kansas City. The event includes bands, speakers, teachers…and of course youth – very talented youth.

Elliot can work the yo-yo like no other and Travis is going to be showing off his cup stackin’ skills on ESPN this spring!

This is my favorite picture. It was taken at the talent show. Three of us are doing an interpretive dance to “The Taco Song” while Travis and “Anne of Green Gables” are competing in cup stacking in the background.

I considered this good training for the World Race – who knows when this exact same situation might arise? We are supposed to be ready for anything thrown our way, right?

I also want to send a shout out to Chris Austin, my “wicked, cool” Canadian friend. He was the head speaker at the youth gathering. Two years ago some of my friends and I traveled to Prince Edward Island (home of “Anne of Green Gables’) for a mission trip. He showed us great hospitality while we served on “the island”. It was great to see you agian!
