This is the most recent update on the continuing escapades of Team Lum.  I’m currently writing to you from the Ho Chi Minh airport in Vietnam, w/ free wifi as we sit at the limited restaurant area consuming our first bites of “food” (croissants) and “drinks” (coke) all day.. only a bit of time before we board a plane OUT of the country.  Before you wonder, no, our exile isn’t due to any of my antics or Benny’s sketchy past… or the fact that Dave and Mel are Canadian (you know how much trouble that can bring!  hehe).

LONG story short (with more details later, or see Lindsay’s explanation): over 24 hrs, two airports, two countries, two horrible Air Asia ‘customer service’ agents, one flight and one “fake” visa approval letter later, we’re being kicked outta Vietnam!  Basically, our only taste of this country will have been the many hours we spent sitting at the immigration/landing visas section all day today, observing all the officials wearing those blue face masks (is air quality that important in Vietnam? never knew) and speculating on whether or not Benny could indeed sneak past immigration/customs like a ninja.  We’re being deported back to Bangkok in less than an hour, and we have no idea where we’ll ATL it from there.  It’s definitely been a long, at many times frustrating and disappointing two travel days… we’ve gotten really accustomed to airports, having missed our flight yesterday and spending the night in Bangkok’s airport, and then flying into Ho Chi Minh this morning only to once again, sit around all day.

I’ll explain more later on what happened (or didn’t happen).  We still hope we can come here someday.. We hope to go somewhere else if it works out… Either way, God’s still good and faithful.  We’ve remained safe, protected, and provided for.  It’s not so much where we are as it is who we are in all this.. But of course, in all honesty, as much as we’re supposed to lay down our expectations, we did expect to find ourselves in the countryside of Dalat or somewhere there.. We’ll return to the YWAM base and rest a bit and hopefully do some good research on where and how next to proceed.

Please keep us all in your prayers – health, direction, sanity, unity, among other things.  Love ya and appreciate all your intercession.

To be continued…

P.S.  Mom and dad, please don’t worry about me.  We’re ok… even if we’re blacklisted from Vietnam, haha jk.

*I also added a few pics to my previous blog on debrief if you wanna check it out.
