After 23 hours of travel, we have arrived in Nairobi, Kenya!! It has been an exciting travel day, at times slow and uncertain, at times everything happens at once. We were supposed to have a 9.5-hour layover in Bahrain, but due to bad weather, we were detained in Kathmandu for 9.5 hours. But God took care of us as always, and as our plane landed 30-minutes early, we rushed through the airport to catch our next flight just in time. Isn’t He awesome!!
Now we are at Milimani Backpacker’s Hostel, ready for 4 days of debrief with our squad leaders. A few changes have been made, a few teammates have felt God calling them to go home. This is a time to rest, reflect, and follow where God is leading us next. No changes have been made to Team Deep Roots.
Next, we will be heading to Kitale, Kenya for our ministry of evangelism amongst unreached people groups. Due to the unstable situation in Nairobi, all teams have been placed outside of this central city for ministry, where it will be quite safe. As of yet, we don’t have any more details on what our ministry will look like, but we know God has it all in His Hands.
Thank you for continuing to follow me on my journey, and your continued prayers and support! We are partners in this work of the Lord and I am so thankful and joyful for you!

Last month in Nepal has been the best month of ministry for me so far, and as I reflect on the reason why, I realize it has a lot to do with the idea of “pouring all in”. I can see this in the way we open up to each other, the way we seek after God, and the way we serve in our ministry.
I Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
This month we’ve been running, not just physically but also spiritually. In the way we serve our kids we run. We got up early to play with them before school, we stay up late to prepare lessons for them, we plan a birthday party for a special little boy the day before we leave. In the way we love each other, we run. Have something encouraging to say? Have a hug to give? Have something constructive to feedback? Say it today. Hold me accountable; don’t delay. In the way we seek after the Lord, we run. Spend time with Him; pray every day. Read His Word together. Ask those questions we’ve been saving up. If we wake up in the middle of the night; if we feel tired…run to Him who gives us rest.
What are some ways in which we can run to Him? It could be meeting with a friend every other day to discuss a book of the Bible or our questions. It could be taking extra energy to love and pray for our co-worker, or our son and daughter and their friends. It could be staying up late for some prayer and worship with the Lord.
As I write this, I am so convicted because I know, way too often, I don’t run. I don’t spend time in His Word, I don’t pray, I don’t focus on Him. But having my friends here to keep me accountable has made a big difference. And as we run together towards Him, my soul is learning to be satisfied to be filled up with Him.
Romans 12:11 “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
