One week from today, I will be driving through Georgia on my way to training camp. My squad (the U squad) of 50ish people will be joining V, W, and X squads at Toccoa Falls College to prepare for our 11 month journey in September. This will be the first time I meet the people I will be spending the next year of my life with. We will get to know each other, to worship together, and to learn together. We will experience what life is like on the Race whether it’s eating African food, observing Asian customs, taking bucket showers, or sleeping outside. My squad will be divided into small teams of 6 or 7 people, and I am anxiously anticipating who my teammates will be! At the end of this week, I will have a better understanding of what the Race will entail and be one stop closer to my world adventure. In all honesty, I get more and more nervous the closer I get to July 13. So far, this trip has not been tangible, but once I get to camp, I will be able to put names with faces and words into actions. Even though I know very little of what we will be doing at training, I do know that I will see how God work and shape my squadmates and myself all to glorify him as we go.
Stay tuned for a blog all about my training camp experiences! Also, here is another video that you really should watch.
