I have been back in the United States for a few days now.  My 11 months of [stereotypical] “missionary” life are over; however, my service is far from over.

You see being a missionary isn’t a title you obtain or a career you choose, rather the term missionary is synonymous with the term Christian.  Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, he said “go and make disciples.”  He didn’t say “you select few live tell others about me.”  No, he simply told his followers to spread his love.  This means if you are a doctor you are a missionary to your patients.  If you are a teacher, you are a missionary to your students.  If you are a businessman, you are a missionary to your colleagues.

I do not know what I will be doing next.  I probably won’t go live in another country, and I probably won’t be doing what others may consider full time ministry.  But I do know that I will continue to be a missionary even if I live in suburban United States and even if I work a 9-5 job.  Being a missionary does not mean you have chosen a career.  It merely means you have chosen to follow Christ.

So I’m done with the World Race. I’m headed into another adventure.  Maybe I’ll blog about my next chapter or maybe this is my last.  But whatever I invest my life in next; I’ll still be a missionary.
