We saw these kids go from sad, lonely, broken, scared, and seeking love to kids full of joy, laughter, hope, smiles, giggles, and filled with love, from our father and us.

These kids are truly something special, its like they are new children. Over the past 31 days spent with them we have seen them go from shy to out going, to open honest and vulnerable with us, they never run down the street screaming, they are comfortable with us; and that is one of the most meaningful feelings in the world knowing that children trust you and will share their hearts with you. Whether its throwing rocks at a larger rock for fun, chasing a tire, holding hands, laughing, cleaning the church floor or eating popcorn these kids always know how to bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart.

Saturday we went to visit the kids thinking it may be out last day to see them before we leave on Wednesday, I feel like words wont even be able to describe my day with them it was short sweet and completely meaningful! It was such a simple visit but a time where we truly felt like family, it consisted of laughing, pictures, watching ‘movies’ which is technically national geographic episodes about African animals, mother was starting to make lunch but we already ate so she went out and bought soda for Erica and I and drink they don’t take in because it is too expensive (.25 cents in American money) so it would a rare thing for them to have normally only for special occasions, but they spent their money to bless Erica and I and that is exactly what they did, they bought two and secretly we shared it with the children. We were so blessed by this act of kindness and I know the Lord will provide for them because of this amazing way they served us. We took a family picture (including us in it) then said our goodbyes hoping to see them again.

Today (Monday) we were so blessed to go back to the church, after a few hours of cleaning, weeding, and gardening. Ivy had just got off school and came to the church to see if we were there then went and got her mother, she invited us to her home and said she missed us and has been waiting for us.

We were able to spend four hours with this precious family, a family who seeks after the Lord and his heart. A family who left an everlasting impact in my life and I can only pray that I did the same to them. They bought us a pineapple to eat at their house with them which is a African delicacy another way God completely blessed us and blew our minds, it was so sentimental and meant so much to us.

Ivy was being very quiet and sat outside so I went to join her and talk to her, finally she opened up to me and told me that a girl at school called her bad, I got to proclaim over her how that wasn’t true. She is beautiful, a creation from God, she isn’t bad she is good and don’t let others tell her different, God made her perfect she is so special, adored and loved and I assured her that God loves her so much not to believe lies and anytime she feels this way again to pray to Him for His help and comfort. Then I got to pray for her and her spirits were lifted and we had a wonderful rest of the day together.

Then it was time to say our goodbyes they were hard and bitter sweet but I know that it is our time to go and God has big plans for us just as he does for Ivy, Hase, and Dillon and I know that he will continue to do huge works in them and they will be a light to all their friends and community. Please join me in prayer as well for these precious children.
