Years have flown by, and time has passed, im not the little girl who runs around and scraps her knees anymore (though some may say im still clumsy) ive mastered the art of training wheels, roller skates, and scooters. Ive had high hopes and ambitions and ive failed many times, ive probably been told no more times than yes, and ive learned its not about pleasing others but about pleasing our father. Ive been challenged in many ways and wanted to give up many times in my life. I sin daily in my life but I have a merciful father who showers me in His grace and love and he forgives me. I am not perfect but daily I continue to grow spiritually and every area of my life. I am so blessed by the beautiful 21 years of life the Lord has given me, I have traveled the world, I have seen God do huge things in many countries Ive seen Jesus in a little childs laugh, and an old mans tears. I have seen people give more than they have but realize all they need is God. Ive seen people sick and dying, and new babies born. Ive seen people saved from a rough past and girls leave bars. I have seen the mighty works of God and done amazing things in my life, things that people may only dream of, and I have a huge appreciate for the life we live in America!
So Sunday was my birthday, and this year was going to be different, I wouldn’t be spending it with my family like I have every other year instead I was celebrating in Cambodia with an incredible family that the Lord blessed me with in July.
I woke up early to skype with my family and much to my surprise as the video comes on there is my beautiful aunts Anns face, who ive spent majority of my birthdays with since I can remember. I got to see and talk to my mom, dad, aunt and uncle for an hour and share a bit of my birthday celebration with with, it was fabulous . Then I got to skype with some pretty incredible people back home as well, who I am greatly blessed to have in my life!! J
Shortly after lunch Jessica, Julie and I enjoy some refreshing ‘smoothies’ in an outdoor pool at a local hotel. We got to relax and cool off for a few hours from the scorching Cambodian heat, it was such a relaxing evening and we even caught some rays which I wont ever complain about. Such a peaceful way to spend a birthday afternoon. Then we hoped back on out bikes and off to church we went.
Once we get to church Jessica and I realize we were so excited about the pool we forgot our Bibles for church.. oh yeah did I mention I was teaching today so that Bible was a bit important, but no worries we had all of the materials we needed. So I used Traci’s Bible and passed out church Bibles to all the children and taught on the last supper.
After church I was given clue one… let the scavenger hunt begin.. J
We had to bike to our favorite cheap restaurant which of course is Pub Street, its all street vendor food but you can get shrimp and vegetable fried rice for one dollar that’s what im talkin about good cheap food! J then I was given clue two, where I received my fruit ‘smoothie’ on the team and was to follow Jessica to our next location..
We biked around town for a bit to waste time as everyone else arrived at our location. We rolled up on our bikes to lucky mall. Once we get there, I was given clue three where I was told I WIN and now I get to go pick
my prize yippie. We were directed by Shaun where to sit, as I turn the corner my team yelled happy birthday, I got to pick out the cake I wanted, and we sat enjoying some ‘food fellowship’ together, and following Malaysian tradition I had to feed everyone a piece of cake, however Jess was the only trouper in this act, probably because were the ones who said we were taking it to every other country with us. Then we found out our ministry for next month.. woot woot!
We will be in Naruku Kenya working with Deliverance church, doing orphan, slum, village, prostitution, preaching and many other ministries. And we couldn’t be more excited for the ministry of course but also because this city is known for its pink flamingos everywhere haha
me and it was truly special, I got to celebrate with kids from all over the world. oh and did i mention they got me a cake and I got to blow out candles, how fun!!
