Ok so ill start out by letting you all know now that this is not a serious blog, in fact its pretty funny and just a normal day in the life of a world racer J
Today was our last free day in Kenya before we head off to debrief then Uganda. So what better way to spend it then a day full of adventure, we headed out for the equator line about 30 minutes from our house. How many people in their life time get to say they have been in the Northern and Southern hemisphere not only on the same day but at the same time!
We did a test with water where you pour it out into a bowl with a hole in it then it drips into a pitcher (you know so they don’t waste any water and can use it again, and suck money out of the tourists) then they place a small twig into the bowl and the twig turned clock wise on the northern side and counter clock wise on the southern side and then the stick didn’t move at all when placed along the equator. It was cool and of course a once in a life time experience.
Now I can officially say while on the race I have been in two countries at once (Panama and Costa Rica) in no man’s land (Cambodia and Thailand border) and in the northern and southern hemisphere (Kenya) not only on the same day but the same time!! Then of course they tried haggling us into buying stuff but off we went to a famous castle which we figured in Africa that means a large house..
Nope it was a real Castle that Lord Egerton build for his girlfriend they got to Kenya and she left him because it was too small, absurd I know right. We got a tour of the Castle for one USD they tried charging us $10.00 USD but it pays off to have locals with you that can bargain. We got a tour of the castle by a guy who used to live there with the Lord then when we were done we went to the bathroom but once getting there decided we could wait.
Well Jessica saw a sign for an animal gallery that she ventured off to look at, while over there a llama starts chasing after her, and she stood there not having a clue on what to do, thankfully the llama starts walking away (so we thought) and she walked back, she gets to us and he starts charging after Jessica, Traci, Julie, and myself so as he is running behind us and we are screaming like a bunch of girls we run into the men’s restroom. Julie and I both take a stale locking Jessica and Traci out, Jessica joins me in my stale while Traci is being stared down by a llama, as all the locals gather around and have a laughing fest finally a guy comes to help us chasing him away and telling us ‘hes friendly he just wanted to play) he isn’t what I consider an animal to play with.
So as we get back to the van, mama our contact told people to look at us because we were trying to play with the big animal pahaha yeah not the case at all, so an experience where we couldn’t work up the nerve to go into the women’s bathroom chases us into the men’s restroom. I must say we live a very eventful life.
Ive attached the video of us running from the llama its all over the place because we were running but still humorous!
Just another day in the life of Stephani J
