At 4:45 this morning I woke up from a dream that kinda freaked me out. I had a dream I almost got attacked by a lion!!! This wasn't the first dream either. But God just spoke to me about what my dreams mean and I have to share this…… So first the dream.
I was staying under a tree somewhere in Africa at night time. I'm not sure what I was doing exactly but it was like I was sleeping (without a tent, or any other small form of protection). When I opened my eyes in the light that shone behind me on the porch. I saw not just one lion but the whole pride. I started panicing right off the bat. I could feel my breath becoming more and more shallow. I was freaking out completely. So the natural thing to do is run, so I turned tail and was running for the house. When I looked back They were coming after me and gaining fast.
Then I remembered from all those times of watching animal planet as a kid you never turn your back to anything that might rip you to pieces the instant you do. So I turn back toward the lions and stood my ground. The lead male lion stopped dead in his tracks, and when I told him to leave he did. But there were two lioness' that still were flanking, and the light on the porch was dimming fast. I tried again to command them to leave but there was no movement they stood there as if they didn't understand I was talking to them.
It began to get harder to see them as the light was almost gone. So I closed my eyes and started to pray. "God I am so scared, these lions are so close and my light is almost out. When this light is gone… I feel them getting closer…" my prayer was cut short by someone behind me who shouted "Lord God Almighty". When I opened my eyes I could faintly see the lions in the dark of the night. They were bowing at the sound of Gods holy name. Then the light behind me got extremely bright and the lions vanished.
When I woke up I was still kind of shaken up by this dream. That's when I got this verse.
1 Peter 5:8 Be careful! Watch out for the attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
The devil and his demons are real! And as Christians we are there main target. They are just waiting until we slip up and think everything is fine so we will turn around not paying attention. That's when it happens, that's when he makes his move and trips you up making you fall, being dragged out and devoured.
This dream makes it very clear to me that the Devil IS REAL!! He is scary but he also bows low to God. The Devil has no power over you when we call on God's name. The only option he has in to turn tail and run because God's light is extremely way to bright for him. He hides out in the dark waiting for just the right time to consume something so precious.
Be encouraged Christians…. We have the power through Christ to overcome our deepest fears and to stop the Devil in his tracks. That doesn't mean he won't be back to try again, but with God by our side the Devil has no chance. It's a losing battle for him.
