I feel so often we look forward onto what we are going towards rather than where we are which couldn’t be more true for this amazing trip. But possibly we should also consider the preparation for the trip as well. And no I don’t mean getting our tents and our packs not that isn’t a part of it but I mean the spiritual preparation. I mean I am about to go on the trip of a lifetime but am I ready for it!? Will I be able to go out into the field and really be ready to experience God firsthand.
I think it first starts with realizing we can never really be ready for what we are going to encounter out there but maybe we just need to learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Recently I had a member of my church give a sermon at youth about his climb up Kilimanjaro. He explained to us that ultimately you can never can truly grow if you constantly stuck doing the same thing, being with the people we are comfortable with and never going out of our own bubble. But how can we experience Christ if we are unable to go out and be uncomfortable? In order to change we must be willing to allow ourselves too. Think of any situation you have been in, you only ever grow if you were pushed outside your comfort zone!
So that is how I feel I need to prepare myself for this trip, I must be comfortable with being uncomfortable. And it may be one of the hardest things I will do but I feel like in the end it will give me my radical transformation that I am looking towards.
