What is this world race thing?

Well before I get into why I want to go on the world race I should probably first explain what it is. The World Race is done through an organization called Adventures in Missions that is based in Atlanta Georgia and it is an 11 month mission trip for people aged 21-35 to travel to 11 countries doing missions trip. I will be leaving in September 2014 and traveling to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. I am super excited and would love if you follow on my journey with me.

Why the World Race?

I have been on three missions trips in the past to Costa Rica (twice), Mexico City and San Pablo Philippines. I have loved each one of these missions trips and always known it wouldn’t be my last one. I love traveling and seeing and experiencing new cultures. I love meeting people and just sharing life with them. I absolutely fell in love with the Philippines while I was there but coming back it wasn’t necessarily the warm climate and the culture I fell in love with but it was the people. I met so many people who changed my life in ways they will probably never know and I still think about them often. I knew missions would be in my future however, after graduation I determined my four year plan. I would come to Ambrose for four years and get a degree in Behavioural Science and then go from there. Every time I would think about missions trips I would consider going on my breaks from school but not taking time off school for missions. I had my plan in place and had full intentions of sticking to it.

In the summer God started to challenge my thinking and put missions on my heart. I felt like maybe a year away from school and Ambrose would be good to  just give me a fresh perspective and to really grow in new ways in my relationship with Christ. So I began to look for different missions and travel programs online. When I came across the world race it just combined all my passions and interests into one trip and seemed like the right one. However, I still questioned the timing but God made it so clear in numerous ways that this is where he wants me to spend my next year and now I am just beginning the preparations to make that a reality.

In this year on the world race I pray that Ephesians 4:1-6 would play out in my life- that I would live a life worthy of the calling I have received and that I would embrace every moment and opportunity in the days of preparation leading up to my trip and while on the field

“Pursue your passions. Seek adventure. Love Deeply and Laugh Frequently”

This is my motto for my trip and I want this to be my hearts desire while traveling to the different countries. I love adventure, I love spontaneity, I love doing random things and meeting new people and I love to laugh. I can’t wait for my journey to begin and I can’t wait to share it with you guys.
