My month in Nicaragua was amazing. As I said in my last blog it was full of unexpected changes and we had to learn to live without a schedule but God taught me a lot about myself and what ministry looks like. One thing I learned is that ministry is not a 9-5 job. It is not something that happens for a certain time period but it is a way of life. Sometimes we had time off where we had to make our own ministry. Sometimes that meant spending time to bond as a team, sometimes it meant spending time in the word and sometimes it meant going out into the community and interacting with the locals. One of my favorite afternoons was when Alexis and I were able to meet a few girls at the park and hang out with and take them out for ice cream and just show Gods love to them.
Here are a few pictures showing some of the people I met this month and things I was a part of. I often don’t have my camera out during ministry so I haven’t captured to many moments but here are some moments that were captured.
This is Jamalie. She is 3 years old and the pastors daughter. We nicknamed her Stitch because we could never tell what she was saying and she was the sweetest little girl but could also be a bit of a trouble maker.
These were twins we met in the park, Anelda and Onelda. We were able to play with them and bring them to church a couple times.
One of the issues with photos is they can never actually capture how truly beautiful things are. Palacuguina was absolutely gorgeous!
The struggle is real with uploading photos right now but hopefully this gives you a little idea of what our month in Nicaragua looked like. The culture of Central America is very relaxed and overall a slower pace of life. This was a challenge for me because I like to do things quickly and efficiently but I came to love the slow pace of things and to just live in the moment and focus on being not doing.
Thank-you for everyone who has supported me so far in my journey.
