Dear Family and Friends,

I am writing to inform you of the adventure I will be going on beginning next year.  I had been contemplating the idea of flipping my life upside down by moving to another country.  The idea of adding missions work was placed on my heart after reading the book “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity For Women World Wide,” by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. The book discussed the issues women face in different cultures throughout the world, including issues of human trafficking, especially within third world countries.  I wanted to be a part of something where I would would be able to encourage women in these places.  I was led to the World Race through a friend, and after doing research, I realized that this was something I felt called to do.  Instead of moving alone to another country I will be traveling to different countries with a team and be involved with the communities in each country we visit!

Starting January 2013 I will serve with my team as a missionary through Adventures in Missions, in their program The World Race.  We will be going to 11 countries in 11 months comprised of:  Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Nepal and India.  Our outreach will involve, community development, ministry, working in orphanages, partnering with churches and ministries in local communities, ministering to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking and showing love and encouragement to those in need.

I am very thankful and excited for this opportunity that God has presented to me to participate in The World Race. I am excited to serve, encourage, love, be stretched, and grow in my relationship with God.  In order to help with this ministry we need to raise $15,500, which will cover all flights, food/housing, and ministry supplies for the entire year.  I will also be responsible for travel to and from training camp and our launch point, vaccinations, medical insurance and ongoing expenses at home.  I have been working hard to pay for as much of my journey as possible with my own funds, but will need additional support. Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated. Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or a monthly donation. Whether you support me and my team through prayer and encouragement or contribute financially, you will be a partner in this ministry!

To donate online please just click on the “Support Me!” tab on my blog, stacyrichard.theworldrace.org. Here you can setup your monthly donation or a one-time gift. You will be given an online receipt. I have enclosed additional information on the methods for making donations.
Thank you for being part of my life and taking time to read this letter. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me.  I will be updating my blog during my trip.

Love,

Stacy
