Here I am, more than 5 years later and I’m still connected with the World Race and Adventures in Missions. This is the place God’s called me and I’m honored to get to be a part of what He is doing in the nations.

Within the World Race, I’ve worn many hats. First of course that of a World Racer. Then in the office of Adventures doing Admissions for our trips; followed by another year on the field serving as a Squad Leader for two Squads. And now I’m back in the office working as a Squad Mentor for the World Race.

I want to take some time to explain what I do to those of you who just know I’m a missionary somehow, but not really sure of what I do (most of my family included)! The World Race is a culture of its own and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. I’ll try to break it down:

World Race sends out around 16 squads a year to dozens of different nations. There are about 50 “Racers” (or missionaries) on a squad.

I am a Squad Mentor for World Race squads.

The leadership structure is like this:

50 racers –> 7 team leaders –> 3 squad leaders –> one Squad Mentor (ME!)

I am responsible for driving the spiritual formation process and discipleship of the World Racers on the squad I mentor. I do that in the following ways:

  • Training and leading squad & team leaders
  • Teaching on topics like feedback, prayer, celebration, vulnerability, leadership, etc.
  • Facilitating team debriefs & conflict management
  • Casting vision for the squad’s growth
  • Praying and interceding for the Squads and direction the Lord is taking them

Truly, this is my favorite ministry I have ever had. I have the opportunity to see our Racers’ lives changed before my eyes, as they go out and serve Jesus on the mission field. It’s awesome! And it’s so stretching for me sometimes. I am getting to use my gifts, talents and skills for the Kingdom. It’s my dream job and one that is valuable and necessary to our World Race program.

I am looking for monthly financial supporters to partner with me as I continue in what I believe God has called me to. This is absolutely my greatest need and would ask that if you’re reading this, please consider it – even if it’s a small amount. $10/month goes a really long way!

Saying yes to Jesus has been the greatest adventure I’ve ever known. There is a generation that hears His whisper to step into the unknown, giving everything up for His Kingdom. He’s always worth the cost. I’m humbled to take part in what God is doing through the World Race today.
