There are countless number of times where I am left so in awe of God, but these last few days have left me completely humbled. On Sunday morning we arrived in Budapest, Hungary from Romania. We were headed for Croatia and decided to stay 2 nights in Budapest before leaving again. To make a long story short, we had nowhere to sleep that night. We had called someone we knew in the city but we got no response. We searched online for any hostel or lodging we could possibly afford on a tiny budget. We found one or 2 hostels that looked promising and we also found the address for a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base but when we tried to look for each of these places, we couldn’t find them at all! It’s as if they didn’t exist. Or we were really bad with directions. We found other hostels but they were out of our price range.
easy to get discouraged. We prayed some more. Then we just worshiped. We got out the guitar and sang to God because we knew He already had a place for us, we just needed to listen.
Shortly after, a group of people stopped to chat and told us about a hostel that was cheap. Heather and I were on a mission to find it but as you might’ve guessed, we had no luck. We stopped at an apartment complex to ask if they were familiar with the hostel and said they had not. On impulse, Heather muttered “just out of curiousity, we’re 7 missionaries on a low budget. How much would you charge us for a room?” After she said that I thought in my mind yeah right, this place is too nice and too expensive. After chatting with her boss, the sweet receptionist, Jodi told us a price cheaper than any other place we’d found. We told her we’d return shortly after we discuss it with our team. The gang agreed this was definitely from God and we made our way back. When we walked in, Jodi informed me that her boss agreed to take even more off the price than he already did. Here’s the best part: they also threw in a second room for FREE. Yep, free. As in, we didn’t have to pay for it.
We expected it just to be a tiny little room with some beds but as we walked in, each of the two rooms we had was actually a full apartment!!!!
Complete with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a SHOWER, kitchen, dining room, living room, WiFi, TV, and balcony. We were so blown away! Some of us cried and some of us jumped up and down and some of us danced around. But each of us kept saying “are you serious? I can’t believe this!”
