Visions from God

For the last few days our squad has been at a transition
stage between month two and month three on the World Race. We are in a time
called “Debrief”. Debrief is a time to rest, relax, and process what God has
been doing thus far on the race.

Looking back, I have already grown a tremendous amount, and
have learned a great deal about myself, about God, and about life in general.

However, one thing stands out, and that is what I’m here to
share today.

Over the last two months, I have learned to hear the voice
of God. God speaks to me, and through me. It’s been amazing to hear His words
coming out of my mouth and to sit back and watch their impact on those around
me. Sometimes, I open my mouth, and words start coming out. Words that I would
never have thought on my own. Words that have power. Words that could have only
come from God.

However, this is not the only way that I have noticed that
God has been speaking to me. He has also started putting visual images in my
mind. I’ve always been a visual thinker, but I’ve only recently realized that
some of the images I get could be from God. These images depict the way God
sees certain people. They give visual representations to elaborate concepts.
They speak life into people, and point out weaknesses and areas of growth.

The best part about this new realization is that in my growing
artistic ability, I’ve begun recreating these images for others to see. And
this has been powerful as well! So I wanted to take it one step further and
share them with all of you, so that you might see the visuals that God has
given me!

This first one is my idea of the story of creation. This is
God, standing in front of his workbench, fashioning and forming the earth.
Everything is dark, except the light that is flickering and flashing and flying
off his creation. And everything around is only visible through this light.

This next photo is of one of the girls at the orphanage
named Nancy. Nancy was a struggle at first because she is one of those people
that can’t talk but is always making noises. LOUD noises. She cant’ feed
herself, and is always drooling. But God allowed me to see her as he sees her,
with a huge smile and tons of joy.

This drawing isn’t quite finished, but it’s from a vision
that I had during Launch. Our squad leaders had been complementing our team on
our worship. They were reminded of the times in scripture that before a big
battle, they would first send out the worshipers and oftentimes the worshipers
were all that was needed. The battle was won before it even began. It was at
this point that I got the picture of Mac, one of our squad leaders, in the
midst of a battle, waving the victory flag at the top of the mountain.

This next drawing is a different style than the rest. It’s
an illustration of a principle or an idea. The idea is that our sin is like an
iceberg. It’s a huge mass ice, but only a little bit is visible above the
surface. Our sin is a huge mass in our lives, but we keep so much of it hidden
under the water. The best part of the vision is the little man, who represents
God. God knows our sin, but He is there day and night, chipping away at it with
an ice pick to mold us into a beautiful ice sculpture.

This last drawing is from a vision that I had of one of my
teammates, Rose. In my vision, she was dancing and twirling through a field of
wildflowers, with her dress caught up in the wind and movement. Jesus was
singing to her, and she was dancing to His song. She pauses to look at him,
twirl her dress, and He told her how proud He was of her and how beautiful she
was to him. So she continued dancing, in freedom and in joy because her creator
was pleased.
