Dear friends and family,
It is with much excitement that I write this letter to you. God has really poured out the blessings on my life lately. I have been working in NYC with the very talented artists of Third Rail Projects, on our show Then She Fell since it opened almost a year ago. This is exactly what I have always wanted for my life. Recently, however, God has planted a new desire in my heart, overseas missions. It is a calling I know without question, is from the Lord. After visiting Southeast Asia in April I immediately began researching mission organizations in Malaysia. My search led me to the World Race, a program offered through Adventures in Missions. I knew right away it was what I was supposed to do, but (although I hate to say it now) I wasn’t yet ready to quit my job, leave the city and people I love and spend a year sleeping in a tent to tell people about Jesus. Fortunately, God is merciful and He continued and continues to pursue me.
God was very patient with my doubt, questions and concerns. After much prayer, fasting, confirmation and encouragement from my friends and family, I have decided to take this step of faith and God-willing, will be leaving in January, 2014 to serve the “least of these” in 11 countries. Over the course of 11 months my team and I will love, serve and shine the light of Jesus in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. I have faith that God will use us to bring strength over fear, light pushing out darkness, healing of sickness, joy triumphant over despair, hope above hopelessness and most of all LOVE reigning victorious over death.
This letter does serve a purpose greater than personal update however. It is my heartfelt request that you would partner with me in this new adventure. First and foremost, I am seeking your support in fervent prayer. Pray that my team would be a united, bold and fearless group of world changers committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus in a dark and hurting world. Pray that God will protect me from sickness, doubt, loneliness and fear. Pray that this new season will teach me about His great love for His children from every corner of the earth.
Secondly, I am requesting your financial support. When God created me He placed a spirit of adventure deep in my soul and although I have been blessed to have many amazing journeys, I learn a little bit more day by day that life with God is the greatest adventure of them all.
