I was able to spend individual time with each member of my family, which was a blessing since my launch date is quickly approaching. My dad and I went to lunch and spent the rest of the day playing a hunting game on Wii (I was pretty terrible, it’s hard not to be a spaz when animals are running toward you on a game), and pricing my clothes that I’m selling in the rummage sale. Most of his comments consisted of asking whether they were my clothes or Barbie clothes and debating on whether my tank tops should be half off the price, because there was “half a shirt”. But, it was still fun nonetheless. My mom and I also went to lunch and were able to spend some quality time together catching up and talking about the preparation for my trip. My sister, brother-in-law, and I celebrated St. Patrick’s day by feasting on some Mexican food at Ninfa’s. Obviously, my eating habits were not so great over the break since most of them involved eating out with family or friends, but oh well…you only live once :). My grandma and aunt also came down to bring some items for the rummage sale. It was fun going through all of the stuff and hearing where everything had came from, as well as teasing that some of it was pretty sketchy. I was also able to catch up with my best friends from high school and college, which always proves to be eventful. I’m so thankful that I was able to spend so much time with my family and close friends. I will miss them all so much.
I was also able to share about the World Race at my hometown church while I was visiting my family. My hope is that many people will see what God is doing around the world through young adults, and be encouraged that we do care about other people than ourselves. That might not be the case with everyone, but the World Race is a great example of young adults giving their best to make the world a better place. I hope that you will follow my journey or any other Racers journey and be inspired to do your part to help others in your own individual situation and circumstance.
If you’re from Clifton or the surrounding area, the rummage sale is Saturday the 27th from 8am-3pm in the metal building between the FBC Activity Center and Burger King. Stop by and I would love to share more details with you about the World Race. Thank you all so much for your donations to the rummage sale, encouraging words, and continued prayerful and financial support. I am so grateful. Much love!
