Every Wednesday night from 8 to 10 we have outreach were we go out on the streets and talk to all different types of people. Outreach is something I look forward to every week which is crazy to me because a month ago if you asked me to go talk to a stranger I would have straight up said no. But the Lord has worked in crazy ways this month, gently pushing me out of my comfort zone and showing me that talking to strangers isn’t that scary. So last week, we got into our groups and started walking. We didn’t really know where to go so we prayed about it and went in the direction we felt the Lord was pushing us towards. As we walked along I saw two men sitting on the sidewalk talking. I kept walking at first cause I thought it would be weird to go up to the but Will Holt (the goat) said we should just go even though I was kinda scared. So we walked over and said hi and asked what their names where. They told us and after talking a little more, we sat down. Matthew did most of the talking because his friend was drunk and trying to sleep. Matthew asked us our names and then asked me if I was Will’s brother or if I was dating Emily. I laughed cause I was so uncomfy and I didn’t really know what to say. The Lord is continuing to stretch me in my confidence of who He says I am and not what others think. This was one of those times. I kept laughing and then my face got really red and then I told Him I was a girl. After that weird little convo he started taking about His life and where he is now. Even though we clarified that I was a girl numerous times, he still called me he for the rest of time night but it was kinda funny so it’s fine.

He told us that he lives in a house but he is just on the street now cause he was talking to his friend. He was talking about how he works all day so he doesn’t really have time to pray. We tried to tell him that you can talk to God any time and it’s really not something you have to go out of your way to do. The Lord is always there, ready to listen. Matthew did most of the talking but we jumped in when we could. He asked us why we wanted to stop and talk to him and we told him that we just wanted to be friends. I think this shocked him a little because he said that most people just walk by and try to avoid eye contact so it was weird to him that someone intentionally wanted to stop and talk. Will told him that this is what Jesus is like too. He just wanted to stop and get to know each of us and it doesn’t really matter who we are or what we are doing. His love is unconditional. We asked Matthew about his family and what he liked to do. He said that his parents are Christians and they live in Penang. He didn’t really have an answer for what he liked to do because he told us that he only works and sleeps. If he doesn’t work, he doesn’t make money so thats why he works all the time he said. He washes dishes at a restaurant. He then started telling us about his life and how he used to do a lot of drugs but now the only thing he does it drinks. He went to prison for drugs a couple of times but didn’t have to stay long because his dad has good lawyers. He said he goes to the hospital now to get medicine that helps him not want to do drugs anymore. He drinks and sleeps a lot to avoid doing drugs. We asked if we could pray over him and he told us that we can pray for him later but not now. We asked what he wants prayer for and he gave us a few things.  He told me that I shouldn’t cut my hair like a boy again and that kinda stung but I smiled and said okay. Matthew was obsessed with Emilys curly blond hair so we talk about hair for a while. After about an hour and a half we told Matthew and his friend that it was very nice to meet them and we left.

Even though he called me a boy, it was really nice talking to Matthew. I would have never guessed what his story would be and if I hadn’t obeyed the holy spirit urging me to go talk to him. Ministry can look like all sorts of different things but simply giving someone a friend or someone to tell their story to is pretty sweet.

ALSO I still need $5,255 to be fully funded. If you want to partner with me or have any questions about what I am doing, please reach out to me and I would love to talk!!! THANK U:))))
