Well guys I have been in Quito, Ecuador for about 2 days and I am already so in love with everything! Quito is around 9,000 ft above sea level so I am surrounded by the most breathtaking mountains all the time! Our house that we stay in is more than I expected. We were very lucky to all be able to have a bed…well most of us(there is some slight construction going on). Our house reminds me of a cute little mountain house with a pretty garden outside and lotssss of bunk beds. We live in a very safe neighborhood and are able to pretty much do what we want and take the bus anywhere. I’m writing this blog in a coffee shop because I finally found wifi!!!

Now on to my ministry I will be doing! My group of 10 girls will be working in a place called Camp Hope that houses people with disabilities ages anywhere from 3 to 30. We will be working there for 2 months, Monday-Friday, and we begin at 8:30am and are done around 3:30. Yesterday was our first day and honestly it was harder than I expected. I, along with 2 other of my girls, were assigned to work in a room with people who have cerebral palsy. My main assignment was to do physical therapy with one of the happiest girls named Cynthia. She is 22 and has a problem clenching her fists. She grips her hands so hard that she has blisters from her nails digging into her palms. This makes it very difficult for her to feed herself or grab a lot of things. So yesterday I worked with her for about 3 hours on either grabbing my hand or a toy, basically anything besides her hands. She does not talk so at least I did’t have to worry about the language issue in that situation. All of the work I have done so far has been so humbling and made me realize that I can never love these people as much God does but it never hurts to try. I totally should have payed attention in my high school Spanish classes because when the workers there try to give me a task I feel kind of useless and have to grab someone who can translate. Our walk from the house to Camp Hope is around 35 minutes and of course it rained on our first day walking there:) However, we get to walk all through the town and are able to see so much and interact with people we meet along the way. Since I haven’t been here for too long I don’t have that much more to share but any prayers for me and my team would be much appreciated!

Huge thanks to all my supporters, love you all and I will keep you updated!
