Hello my peoples, sorry I haven’t posted a blog in a hot minute. My mind has been in a million places. I wanted to wait until this week was over to write about what my squad has accomplished. This week we stayed and worked at a site specifically for rescuing and housing girls who have been victims of sex trafficking. At this site around 20 girls will live and learn basic skills in order to get a job and transition back into normal life. Our main task was moving 4,000 bricks down a hill in order to build a wall around the property for protection. Because we were so high in the mountains it literally looked like we were living in a cloud. There were beautiful fields with horses around us and the temperature was about 20 degrees colder than it normally is. All of us girls (which is a ton) slept in a common area either on sleeping bags or mattresses and shared one bathroom. On Tuesday and Thursday the girls who will be living there came to hang out with us. Their ages range from about 9 to 18. On Thursday I got to played a card game with some of them while others played soccer. Guys, those girls are some of the sweetest, funniest girls I have ever met. Knowing that they have experienced such trauma in their life literally broke my heart. They were so genuinely joyful and became quickly attached to us. We all know that sex trafficking is a thing but it became very real to me when I actually met innocent young girls who have been abused for most of their life. What really blew my mind was that most of the time it’s their own family that sells them into this way of life for money. They are deceived into believing that the man who then sells them off to people actually loves them and think that love can exist while also being beaten and abused. My hope for these girls is that they will experience what true love is; that they will realize their worth and know what precious women of God they are.
