HELLO TO THOSE READING MY VERY FIRST BLOG EVER! WELCOME!! WELCOME!! WELCOME!!

–My name is Sophie Raymond and I am currently a senior in high school whose socks have been rocked off by Jesus. Yes! Socks off. Toes wiggling for Jesus! SO here’s the story of how this all happened:

Over this past year, God has showed up BIG. He showed up in the big clear moments in Haiti, and He has showed up in the little moments from talking to mentors or the sunrises in the mornings. With my junior year winding down and senior year was approaching, I didn’t understand what my purpose in life was. I started getting frequent questions about what I was planning on doing with my future. What college did I apply to? What major was I going to study?  I was trying to be in control instead of letting God show me where I’m supposed to be headed. He knows my purpose on this earth. All I needed was to be still and sit in His presence of what He was trying to tell me all along. Life started to clear up for me. The more and more I learned about who God is and how to seek him daily through kingdom work, the more I found out about where my passions were and that He always had a greater purpose for my life. My story next fall, isn’t to be listening to lectures at college or pulling an all nighter to finish essays, but rather to get my hands dirty for Christ by serving the least of these.

SOOO….I’M HEADED ON THE WORLD RACE GAP YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the World Race Gap Year? Well I’m glad you asked!! In September 2018, I will be going straight into traveling to Swaziland, India, and Guatemala for 9 months where me and my team of around 50 people will be volunteering wherever we are needed in these areas. That could be orphan care, teaching English,or simply investing in these communities and doing this all through Christ’s love and glory. I want to travel this beautiful planet while giving everything I got to give to the one who created me to love the lost, broken, and helpless.

Yes, I will miss the wonderful community I’ve been raised in. I’ll miss my amazing family and friends that have been there for me through everything. I’ll miss a lot of things, but as my favorite person on the earth, Scotti Beth Lawson once told me in Haiti, “Girl, everything will be here when you come back.” I’m so ready to begin this crazy adventure I’ve been dreaming about before I knew what God’s plans were. Trusting God knows the bigger picture for my life.

Here are some ways to get involved!!!!

PRAYER/ HUGS/ CONVERSATIONS/ DONATIONS! — i can’t do this adventure on my own and i wouldn’t want to! life is so much better in community!

Thank you so much for reading this! This has been such an incredible journey so far and I’m so excited to be able to share every moment with y’all. I will be trying to blog every month to give updates about life, fundraising, or anything else!
