While in Swaziland, we are all squad living. All on one compound. To give you a little imagery to what this looks like — it’s still under construction so hopefully the boys can move in after debrief (they’ve been tenting). But there is a bunk room along with the common room and kitchen. And then two more bunk rooms.

Days are fun here. We all meet together in the commons to have breakfast and dinner along with devos or any teachings. We just hang out until we go to ministry or after we’ve gotten back. We eat good Swazi meals for dinner and for breakfast oatmeal & hard boiled eggs.

Life at the compound can be slow. But there is always something going on.

So here is a list of what community looks like here :::

watching the boys chasing a herd of goats until they finally catch one

hammocking in the African breeze

hacky sacking in the dark

trying to hand wash clothes like an African mamasita

sitting with a group of people each doing their own study

singing is never non-existent

joyous laughs can be heard form every room at any moment

it looks like dancing in the kitchen draining Annalise’s battery singing at the top of our lungs to any song that come on

it looks like sitting on the poop deck not even talking but enjoying the silent community while your writing blogs or growing with Jesus or poop deck worship

sharing a snack with everyone because at the sound of a wrapper crunching you have 5 people come ask you to share

squad mates singing and worshipping in their own unique way

8am meeting Jesus in the morning together

and a celebration when someone hears from the Lord in a new way

To put it simply — we are always in community. And it reminds me of Acts 2: 42-47 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

Can I get an amen?!? Holy moly!!!! I feel so blessed to be able to have a community like this. Where breaking of the bread is common, so many cool things are being done at each care point and we come back together and celebrate all that God has done that day.

Love this big community of mine!!
