So, after feeling stuck I thought I could just find a trip through my good friend, Google. Let me tell you there are MANY. most having something just off about them. And then I found Ambassadors through adventures in missions. Hook, Line, and Sinker. This was it. Only my parents did not love the idea of me leaving the country with strangers (understandable) so again I      felt stuck.

I just kept praying about it. I kept asking God for a mission trip. Then one wednesday night at church a mission trip for us high schoolers. Okay Jesus let’s go. I asked my parents and I signed up.

At this point gap year what I would do, how, and where was something I felt I needed to figure out. Because of Ambassadors I found WorldRace Gap Year and I found one program Dream Center Leadership School based in LA. I knew it was one of the two. I really liked the one in LA because of cost/safety/security. But leading up to the trip I was praying about it. I really felt God tell me I will show you and you will have no doubt. OKAY?????

I remember leaving for the trip just thinking how cool it would be to meet Katie and to tell her what I am doing. I just kept thinking about her and her book.

Then we get to the airport we all want to eat breakfast. We walk into one restaurant and it smells terribly. So we keep walking, I really needed to go to the bathroom and so we stop and all go. I get out and I wait for my friend Ashley and I see one of the other girls talking to a stranger. Her name was April she was from the Nashville area and I didn’t know her, so I assumed she knew this girl. After my friend came out of the bathroom we turned the corner and I saw this girl’s backpack. She had a nalgene clipped on and written in ice blue lettering I read WORLDRACE. I paused and I couldn’t keep walking. I asked her if she did the worldrace, and her answer shocked me. She told me, “yes and it was the best thing I have ever done. It felt like the world stopped for a moment. I knew then I had to do this.

We got to chat because she had time before her flight. I asked her millions of questions. At the end she gave us her contact information. Her name was, Katie. And funny enough she squad mentors Gap Year Squads.

We parted ways and went on to eat breakfast. We ate at a pizza hut that had a glass wall so we could see the gate next to it. After a few bites I saw Katie sit down. The next part sounds creepy but I promise it isn’t. I just kept staring at her. I just kept thinking of all my questions. So, I announced to my table that I needed to go talk to her. So, I did just that. I asked her EVERYTHING and knew this is it. I knew the World Race is what God Created me for.
