Hi Friends!
I am going on a month long mission trip to Peru! Honestly, I can’t tell y’all how excited I am! The Lord is really working on my heart and leading me forward! This season has been a hard one for me, but I am trusting in Him and following where He leads.
My team and I will be working with Josephine house in Nauta, Peru. Josephine House is a home for orphans. The remaining part of our trip we will be ministering to a remote village on the Amazon river! We will be leading VBS, and praying and ministering with the locals! I have had the feeling that the Lord wanted me to go on a mission trip for a long period of time now. It seemed as though mission opportunities kept popping up everywhere! I knew the Lord wanted me to act on His call, so I started researching. I looked into a couple different mission groups but Word Race seemed so unique, and I fell in love with reading the blogs that people wrote from the field!
I am so excited to minister and love on the people I will meet in Peru! I love sharing about Christ and I’m so happy that the Lord has given me this opportunity! I am particularly excited about working with kids! I love working with kids of all ages, and I have been ministering with a Jr. High group at my church. I also had the great opportunity to work at a YMCA camp last summer where I also worked with junior high age kids. I have also loved leading Vacation Bible School groups and working at camps throughout the last six years. I feel as though the Lord has given me these experiences and my skill set to prepare me for this mission! I don’t know everything that will happen on this trip but I’m trusting God and I’m excited for whatever comes along.
There is another side to all this excitement, most of us know its name, fear. Fear has been trying to creep in, whether it be with my own self-doubt about my purpose for this trip, or other people being skeptical about the money I need to raise. It’s so easy to get caught up in fear and forget that God led me to go on this trip! That He gave me a passion for missions and for people, and that this trip is using those passions! It’s so easy to forget that God has a plan, and that I am in His hand! I am relying on Him and His strength to see me through. His word says in I John 4:18, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” May I, and all of our team, feel God’s perfect love so we can then share this love with the people of Peru without any fear!
Thanks for reading!
