Hello all! My name is Sonja, and if you keep reading you can learn a little about me.
By the time I will be on my World Race Gap Year adventure, I will be a high school graduate (Class of 2016 yay!). I have been through many ups and downs in my life (just like everyone else) and I feel that God is calling me to go on this adventure!
I have grown up in a Christian home, and most of my family is Christian. They all support my decision to take a gap year with World Race. Both of my parents have been on small mission trips, but neither of them have gone on a mission trip like I am going to. I look forward to seeing how Thailand, Malawi, and Guatemala will change my life, and how I will be able to impact anyone else’s lives in those countries.
When I come home from my gap year, I don’t know what I am going to do. I have always planned my life and I have learned that I cannot plan my life, God has a plan for me. My plan is to rely on God’s plan for me, I plan to go on this mission trip and to learn so much about myself and what life has to offer for me. I hope to learn a little bit of what God has in store for me. I know that I will go to college and I will earn a degree do do what I love. I know that I love working with people, learning about them and why the way they are, and helping in any way I can. I know that as of right now, I would love to have a career in which I am working with others to help them and learn about them, I know what God will use that to my advantage and give me something wonderful.
I look forward to this experience strengthening me as a person so that God’s plan for me will be more clear. I look forward to seeing what He has in store for me in my future, through my gap year and whatever comes next. I look forward to building life long relationships with the people I go on this adventure with, as well as people I meet in the countries I visit. I look forward to having life changing experiences, and memories that I will always treasure.
In order for me to go on this adventure I have to fundraise a lot of money. I plan to host fundraisers, send out support letters, and do anything else I can in order for me to go to Thailand, Malawi, and Guatemala through World Race.
