The first week in Zambia we spent with children at a Vacation Bible School which was hosted at our house. We played games with children from the local orphanage and from our neighborhood and then the last day we taught them the lesson. We also went to the orphanage and held a christmas cookie party with the kids which was a lot of fun. Our ministry in Zambia, so far, looks like whatever they need us to do. A lot of days, the neighborhood kids will show up and we will just play with them and teach the the Christmas story. Last week, we also farmed and planted some trees in our backyard. We go to church on saturdays and sundays. The church we go to on sunday is a very traditional African church with lots of yelling, clapping, and energy and I absolutely love it. This coming sunday, we will be running the sunday service (Christmas Eve) and are planning on learning on African songs and dances to do with the congregation. Zambia is very different than Zimbabwe, and a LOT hotter! The people are very kind and friendly, but they are way less used to Americans than Zimbabwe was.Last weekend, we went to Devils Pool and Victoria Falls and it was incredible!! Devils Pool was so amazing and had an incredible view as well as an amazing experience or hanging off the edge of one of the largest waterfalls in the world. The Falls themselves are absolutely stunning. SO powerful, the mist hits you just by walking near it! We actually got caught in a thunderstorm at the Falls and didn’t realize it was raining (and not misting) until we heard the thunder!
This country is full of amazing natural beauties that I am excited to explore! Thank you so much to everyone that has been supporting me financially and through prayer! It means so much to me!!
XOXO,
Skyler
