Over the past week I’ve learned that love looks like a lot of different things. Whether it be cutting grass with butcher knives or talking to the homeless or modeling jewelry, it’s all showing love. We spent a lot of time with the homeless in the past week and I loved it. Last friday night we went into town and let the spirit lead us to do whatever really. I ended up taking a homeless man out to eat with 2 other girls. After talking to him we found out he was addicted to glue (which is a common thing here with street kids because it suppresses hunger). We also found out that he was only 18 and had been on the streets for a few years. His name is Pudnam. He only eats maybe once a day- at least twice a week at banquet house. Because of this, he idolizes food and eats as much as he can whenever he does eat in fear of not knowing when he can eat again. This is common with street kids here. After we went to dinner, we hung out with some more street kids. The children that have no parents, but still have a family member alive are not allowed into the orphanage, so there are tons of parent less children living on the streets addicted to glue- as young as the age of 7. It was absolutely heartbreaking but it taught me that I have a heart for street kids (i must take after my mama).
This week we will be hiking a mountain to pray over the city, work with the drug & alcohol rehab program, prostitutes, the children’s home, and the homeless!
Thank you so much for all of you who have been keeping me and my team in your prayers- it means the world to me!
Financial update: I am still in need of a little less than $4,000 to stay on the race and continue doing this work. If you feel led to donate- my donate button is at the top :–)!!! Thank you so much!
XOXO,
Skyler <3
