If you were to ask me exactly a year ago what I planned to do with the rest of my life, I would of have told a very strict, detailed plan I thought was right for me. I was going to go into the medical field, eventually move to Haiti and use what I learned to be a missionary there. I thought my plan was perfect and exactly what God would want me to do, but I was very very wrong.
Last summer, God walked me through a season of learning to let go of control. I learned that I am not strong enough alone to plan out my life and only God knows what’s best for me. Finally after I truly let go of control, I was introduced to the World Race. I filled out the application and was accepted during my interview. That was confirmation to me that this is what God wants for me in this season.
So..why? Why would I, an 18 year old girl that has lived in Cape Coral all her life, want to move across the world for nine months with a bunch of strangers? With lots of thought and prayer, here are my reason why I’m going on the World Race:
- I am genuinely excited to be completely stripped of all comforts. I feel like my relationship with God will grow like crazy. I hope to learn so much more about my God and learn to have a stronger, more intimate communication with him.
- I am so excited to be able to spend nine months with a team of young adults who are crazy about Jesus. The girls on my squad and I have a group chat that we talk in 24/7 and let me tell you, these girls are AMAZING! The whole squad is clearly so on fire for God and I can’t wait to be constantly surrounded by them. Go Gap A Squad!!!
- And of course the cliche answer, I can’t wait to live as a missionary. In the season I’m in right now, I feel called to be a missionary. I cannot wait to bring the love of Jesus to people all over the world. I can’t wait to share the good news and teach people about God’s amazing grace. I can’t wait to have a “job” that’s main purpose is Jesus! How cool is that?
