Recently, God has recked me for two things: students (which is odd because I think middle schoolers smell weird and high schoolers are mean) and “Christians.” Sadly, there’s a huge difference between “Christians” and Christ Followers. Here’s the difference:
A “Christian” is someone who probably comes to church late to miss worship and leaves during the prayer to skip the traffic. They’re the ones who stop going to church because their favorite pastor isn’t preaching or because the worship wasn’t entertaining enough. They’re the ones who only come to church on Easter and Christmas and think they have the right to judge anyone and everyone. They’re the ones that think that God hates gays and that charity work will get them to heaven. They may believe in the Bible but when it comes to the crazy stuff like Creation and miracle, it just makes more sense to believe in science. I could go on for hours but I think you get the point.
A Christ follower knows the truth. A Christ follower lives their life completely devoted to God. What really breaks my heart is that there are way more Christians then their are Christ followers in this world. God wants a relationship with His children so badly and it breaks His heart that so many people think they know Him but actually don’t.
To the Christ Followers,
We got some work to do. There are way too many people on this Earth that don’t know God the way we get to. This IS our purpose! Make more disciples, give hope to the World. You can do something as simple as write “Jesus loves you” on a piece of paper and give it to a stranger. You can tell your family and friends about the awesome God you get to know. You can go crazy and dedicate a day to evangelizing at a mall or Starbucks. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing as long as it’s for God’s glory. Come on people! It’d be selfish to keep the good news to yourself. This is what we’re here for. Use your time wisely.
To the “Christians”,
First of all, I love you and God loves you way more then I ever could. Second, God wants you and wants to have a relationship with you. He wouldn’t have wasted His time creating you if He didn’t think that. But because God is perfect and we are sinners we couldn’t have relationship with Him. That broke God’s heart so He sent His son Jesus to the Earth to be killed and pay the price for our sins. So, if we confess that we are sinners, say that we believe in God and Jesus’ sacrifice for us, we can be in relationship with God (also with the pretty lit bonus of getting to spend eternity in heaven with Him). There’s no amount of church services you can attend of good deeds you can do to get yourself to heaven. All you have to do is believe in what Jesus did for you and ask God for forgiveness for your sins. Jesus made it easy for us to be in relationship with our Heavenly Father because he cared about us SOOO much, way beyond understanding.
So if you want to make the decision to be a Christ Follower, you can do it right now! It’s as simple as praying to God and asking God to forgive you for your sins, confessing that Jesus is Lord and saying that you want to have a relationship with God. If you choose to make this decision, let me tell you, this is the best decision you’ll ever make. The Bible says that the angels celebrate when just one person turns to God. And if you did make the decision to turn to God, you’re now apart of the family! You just started your new journey of being a Christ follower.
