A lot happened at Training Camp….a lot of changes. Change of perspectives, change of heart, and a change of ROUTE! That's right….V Squad was informed on one of our last nights at TC that our route was changing, and not just a small change….but a BIG change! Four of our eleven countries have changed, and it's a definite blessing in disguise!
While we sat waiting for our next message to start at TC, Seth Barnes grabbed the microphone and was asking everyone what countries we were most looking forward to….the V Squad consensus? South Sudan. I saw the confusion on his face as he began to speak, "South Sudan? Really? We've had someone almost die there….and also in Uganda". (Note: he said ALMOST….you can breathe now) Both of those countries were listed on our route, but it didn't phase us. We chose this route for a reason, we were ready for whatever God had planned….V Squad was ready to tog….even if that meant risking our lives.
Let's talk about Abraham for a moment. His story has been following me for several months, and now the relationship all makes sense. Don't know the story? Let me give you the Reader's Digest version of it: God asked Abraham to go and sacrifice his son….not an animal….his son….his ONLY son. Can you imagine? So what did Abraham do? He went. He had faith to do exactly what his Father told him to do. However, right as he was going to sacrifice his son….God told him to stop….He saw that Abraham feared the Lord, and was pleased. Because he feared God, and showed faith in Him…..Abraham was blessed beyond words. Crazy stuff, right?! (check out Genesis 22:1-19 for the full story)
With our route change I feel that God has blessed us! God saw that we had chosen this route to glorify His name….that we were willing to sacrifice ourselves to further His kingdom….so what did He do? He BLESSED us! How incredible to have a Father that takes care of us….ALL THE TIME! (I get teary eyed thinking about it)
